Gallery Opening At Last!

This past weekend, Loewen Studio & Gallery finally opened its doors to the public! I bought this historic building back in 2019 — much has happened in the world since then. Shut downs, supply chain issues and significant labor shortages all made the major remodel more challenging than normal. Come see the finished space in downtown Williamston, Michigan! The opening show is my Garden Series. Find out more details on our website: loewengallery.com

The mayor of Williamston spoke at the ribbon cutting. My twin boys held the ribbon.

Inside my husband introduced me. I shared the story behind the gallery and the mission: promoting quilts as art.

A BIG thank you to those of you who sent flowers. These went perfectly with my Garden Series opening show! Above the flowers is a print on canvas of “Butterfly Garden” which is in the International Quilt Museum’s Quilt National Collection. The gallery will be selling limited edition prints on canvas, metal and art paper. These are made from full size high resolution 3D scans of the actual quilts. These are so highly detailed that every quilting stitch is visible!

Saturday’s artist’s talk had a full capacity crowd. The talk included how my Garden Series began, my creative process, my artistic growth and development, the origin of my ideas and the garden as a metaphor for life.

For the opening my family converged in Williamston from across the country: Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. I was so blessed to have all of my siblings, my children, my in-laws and my Mom at the opening! I also had friends and upcoming artists from Idaho, Illinois and Pennsylvania! Thank you to my many supporters!! To those of you who are planning to come, the Garden Series will be up until August 9th. The Gallery is open Wednesdays through Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. We look forward to seeing you soon!
